HOPE STREET MINISTRY (MAY 2014)

By the grace of God HOPE Street Ministry is growing steadily as we continue to fervently serve the Lord by reaching out to the homeless people around Kuala Lumpur.

Everytime we worship God together by singing praises to Him when we begin at 10am, the presence of God begins to fill the place and touch the lives of all who are gathered. It is a time when everyone has a smile on them and the joy of the Lord is felt.

To help our friends understand the Word of God, we make it a point to dramatize a story from the bible. This time around it was the story of the Good Samaritan. Ps. Jacquie shared the Word after it was acted out by the volunteers to illustrate the point that with Jesus in our lives, we must make it a point to help people who are in need. This is because Jesus gave His life for us and it is the law of love that compels us to help those in need. We then walked around and prayed for all who were present.

As the food was served, this time around we had the services of a medical organisation called MEMSA (Mercy Education Medical Social Involvement Aid to the poor and needy). Dr. Patrick, who heads the organisation, was at hand together with a group of volunteers from New Life Restoration Centre (NLRC) who assisted in conducting the medical check ups. Besides dispensing medication, they also gave out free nutritional food to all our street friends.

While the team was at work, we had a time of entertainment and games with our friends. They participated in games and also showed their talents of singing!

We thank God for entrusting us with this ministry and leading us by His spirit to make in-roads into the lives of many who need Jesus in their lives. We also thank God for MEMSA who took the time to be with us in helping to share the love of God.
